Don Curry writes on immigration issues for local and national online publications and was a strong voice in support of a Northern Ontario immigration pilot program similar to the Atlantic Immigration Pilot.

Five Northern Ontario Liberal MPs, including Anthony Rota of North Bay, lobbied the federal immigration minister for such a program.

It evolved to the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, including the five major cities of Northern Ontario plus six others from Manitoba to British Columbia.
